RICHMOND, VA, September 14, 2020 — Allianz Partners has rolled out a significant new upgrade to its award-winning TravelSmart™ mobile app. Among other features, the travel insurance and assistance company has added an Alert Center, which provides users with location-specific travel alerts that are designed to keep travelers up to date and a step ahead of developments and travel conditions that could impact their trip.
Using geolocation technology, Alert Center will provide updates on situations that may impact a trip, including transportation disruptions, weather advisories, holiday closures, health and security risks and more. The new feature also offers expert advice on how to navigate local disruptions, such as the need to allow additional time to reach a destination, and helps customers to easily access live help 24/7 with the app’s existing one-click Contact button at the bottom of the screen.
Additional improvements to the TravelSmart™ App 5.4 version include a streamlined process to create accounts and reset passwords and an enhanced directory of more than 14,000 facilities that bear a “Preferred by Allianz” designation and are accessible using the “Around Me” feature to locate urgent care locations, police stations, embassies, and other facilities.
According to a recent Allianz Partners survey, customers ranked safety and security alerts as the second most important service in a travel insurance mobile app, exceeded only by the ability to file and track a claim, which is also a function included in the TravelSmart™ mobile app. The ability to locate a hospital or other nearby assistance, and an emergency panic button, were also cited as important to travelers and are already features available on the app.
TravelSmart™ version 5.4 is free to download in iOS and Android versions and all travelers, regardless of whether they have existing policies, can access app features like the “Around Me” search function, a medical translator with first aid terms and numbers for emergency services like local police, fire, and ambulances for different countries. For policyholders, the TravelSmart™ app is the fastest, easiest way to access a travel insurance plan, file and manage a claim, track flights, receive live updates for flight delays and easily contact 24-hour assistance and concierge services.
